We've been in motion, to present you:
- Motion Area support -
iConnectHue now supports as first 3rd party app Hue Motion Areas. And we've added some extras for you:
* Flexible manual setup
* Inactivity times down to 30 seconds
* Use Magic Scenes
* Cancelling like Motion Sensors when the app is used
* Disabling actually cancels inactivity actions
You can find the cancelling options under Settings->Motion Sensor cancelling (groups). Select your area there if any action on a certain group should cancel the inactivity actions.
Unfortunately, due to Bridge restrictions, we are otherwise limited to what you can do: Up to 3 rooms or one zone or your home is available, and we have a limited selection of possible actions that can be run.
Note: The initial Motion Area setup needs to be made in the Hue app first in order to be able to configure it here. A Motion Area setup will be available at a later point.

- Reworked device editor -
We've reworked many parts of the device editor for easier use and understanding. Although this has been A LOT of work, this is free for everybody by exception.

We likely will add more functionality in the future for the Sync Box, based on your feedback.
This is a beta feature! While we tested it extensively, we haven't yet had experience with it in the wider field. If you experience anything out of the ordinary, write us via the app, so we can improve it for you!
How to add your Sync Box: Go to "Devices" via the menu, select "+" on the top right and select to add a Sync Box.
- Firework animations (one set free until Jan 1) -
No smoke, no loud noises (your pets will aprove), but lots of visual fidelity!
They're free: This seasonal set is available until January 1. With a Membership, you'll have access to it throughout the entire year!
Remember: We also have two additional sets - "Happy new year!" and "Happy new yeah!".
With the animation upgrade, you can upload these animations to switches for instant replay, or run them with a timer to start them exactly when you need them!

- iPad multitasking support -
We've added support for iPad multitasking on iPadOS 26. Sizing the app window is now supported and the app will adjust its content accordingly. This should make it possible for you to use iConnectHue alongside other app windows, we will fine tune certain circumstances in future releases.
Although this has been quite some work, this is free for everybody!

Updated switch editor
Our switch editor just got a glow-up! No more messy action selection - in the new wizard, everything is now sorted by type and action, which guides you sleek and easy through the process.
The updates in many details, like improved tutorials, around it make it a smoother, brighter experience for everyone - and for free!

We've taught your switches new tricks - and they're brilliant:
• Set color for single lights

It's going to get flashy with this update, be prepared for:
Global light fade time
You can now have a longer/shorter fade time in the app when toggling lights, selecting a color or (Magic) scene.
Go to Settings->Light fade time at the bottom and select whatever you want in a range between 0 and 10 seconds (use scrubbing for fine tuning the time).
These times also also automatically applied when adding new timers or adding new actions for devices (note that it won't change the time for existing device actions nor existing timers).

Effect options
You can now edit the options of Hue light effects after selecting an effect in the effects menu of a light. Simply open the same menu again, then select "Effect options", and set speed and color to your likings.
In addition to this, effect colors and speeds are also supported via drag & drop by now.
Note: Availability depends on latest bridge firmware (1.67), and your lights support them.

Dear users, we have noticed that a considerable number of users have missed the information about the Home Widget. This has somewhat surprised us, as we introduced it 4 months ago and have not made any changes since then. We have therefore adjusted the app to improve clarity regarding the Home Widget.
With the 2024 upgrade, you can access 1 small and 1 medium-sized Home Widget. However, we recommend considering a membership due to its many additional benefits – which is why we show this information first.

Support for new Hue effects
We've added support for Philips' new effects, they're available for every light under the "effects" menu.
Note that their availability depends on whether you have the latest bridge firmware (1.66), your lights support them and that Philips enabled them for your bridge. If they're not available right now, try to check for a new firmware and/or give it a few days until they're announced by Philips themselves.

Classic Widgets and iOS 18
Please note that Apple discontinued support for the Classic Widgets in iOS 18, hence you can only use Home Widgets with it. We've put a lot of work into making Home Widgets do the same and more, albeit working completely different and being more restricted, and we recommend you to make the switch to them.
If you want to stay with the Classic Widgets, the only way is not to install iOS 18. But please note that due to issues in iOS' app extension handling, we've found that Classic Widgets are not as reliable as they used to be - we're sorry about that, but at the same time, cannot do anything about it, as we do not have access to iOS' internals. Again, we recommend to use Home Widgets instead by now.
Please restart your device if your Widgets are not working out of the box after this update due to iOS' extension handling.

iConnectHue is the first 3rd party app to fully support the Hue Twilight. That includes its switch - which you by now can configure to its fullest with all of iConnectHue's features!

Color suggestions by description
If you had trouble finding a specific color, iConnectHue can help you now!
Select the menu (...) in the color picker, select "By description", and type. iConnectHue will present you up to 5 suggestions, press reload for another round. Pick the color and/or save it to your colors.

White tones
For those who like whites, or want all of their lights to have the same color, we present to you an exclusive selection of white tones - which range from comfy to interesting and exciting.
Note: These tones need color bulbs to be represented properly.

IMPORTANT: If old or new widgets don't work, restart your device please.
If iOS removed the old widget after restart, re-add it: Go to the left of your home screen, scroll down, select "edit", scroll down again, select "Customise" and add iConnectHue.
This is an iOS bug we cannot circumvent.
This update is more or less 2-3 big updates in one - we're proud to present the best Home Widget available for Hue, and if this wasn't enough, we've extended Siri Shortcuts by quite an extent. In detail:
Home Widgets
We now support Home Widgets - and they put more functionality in available space than any other Hue widget! One small and one medium with the 2024 upgrade, or any number and large widgets via a Membership. They support every action of the classic Widget - and more:
* All Home Widgets sync via iCloud
* Place them anywhere you like on your Home screen
* Duplicate & Share them with family members (Membership)
* Multi action, up to 4 actions for one group - a new one per press (Pro)
We've polished the way you can add new things to your widget - this is free for everybody! You can access your list of widgets now directly from iConnectHue's menu.
It took a lot of effort to support Home Widgets, in addition we redesigned them.
They work vastly different from the old widgets, it was a almost miracle we could teach them to support all our actions. They won't always show the latest state, but iConnectHue will always switch right. Open the app or press the reload button in the middle to update them instantly.
(Available for every Member or w/ 2024 upgrade)
Pro Members will welcome the Multi Action Item - put up to 4 actions for the same group into it and step through them, like with the Hue Dimmer Hue button. This saves up to 75% space, and allows you complex actions even in a small widget.
IMPORTANT: If the old or new widgets don't appear, please restart your iOS device. It might be that iOS removes the old widget. In such a case add it again This is an iOS bug.
Also note that the classic widget is marked as "deprecated" since multiple years by Apple. It might happen that it will disappear with a future iOS update. Home Widgets require iOS 17, as this introduced interactive Widgets.
Siri Shortcuts
You can now create and edit shortcuts in the shortcuts app directly - with nice lists of what you can do and where.
The old way of doing things in the app and adding them as shortcut afterwards isn't available any longer, but you can still create shortcuts within iConnectHue via its menu.
(Available for every Member or w/ 2024 upgrade)
Note: If you get the error that something went wrong in the shortcuts app, please restart your device. This is a bug in iOS.
In addition to this, Pro Members get a new selection of possible shortcuts and actions:
* Change brightness of a group
* Toggle a Motion Sensor, Contact Sensor
* Turn a group on in 2 hour sun-adjusting daylight mode
* Set the color of a group via color code (see our Copy & Paste tutorial for possible codes)
Other detail improvements
* Try out the new things without purchase; Running new shortcuts and using Home Widgets though requires the appropriate purchase
* Toggle the Contact Sensor on/off from any widget (2024 upgrade)

A happy new year to everybody. You know our fireworks - but still we'd like to start with a bang: Discotainment 2.0 - the next leap for Discotainment!
If you tried it before and wanted more: Give it a fresh try!
Beat stabilizer
It does what it says - and more. It can hold the tempo when there's a short loss of the beat, and it can predict beats.
What does this Voodoo magic do, you ask? Well, it means that effects are now more in time with your beats - because we can compensate the delay when recording via microphone.
This is our new year's present to you - it's automatically there for everybody!
Note: We still recommend Electronic and Pop music with clear bass line for this to work best.
Pulsate effect
A new effect that just looks great - lights alternating brightness with the beat, especially when combined with other effects (more on that right after this). Choose the desired minimum and maximum brightness via slider.

Automatic effect mode
Now we have so many effects - what if I don't want to be stuck at my phone all time?
"Automatic" is the answer - iConnectHue can now play different effects over time, ready with sliders for you to choose how much you want from each one, and how often (in beats) they should happen.
If you set "Pass through" to 0%, you solely use beats for light control, and other disturbances like speech won't have any effect anymore.
This is now available for every Member.
Don't have a Membership yet? Please try it! But even if you don't, our new Disco Scene set lets you use the new effects (without editing capability).

New Disco Scene set
"From Disco to Disco" is our new Disco Scene set, with handcrafted Disco Scenes for every mood and party, and it employs the new possibilities of Discotainment, for everybody.

Pro Members rejoice, you don't have to have your iPhone by your hands all the time - you can start/stop Discotainment and choose your active Disco Scene via your wrist!

Discotainment Strobe improved
After some field testing, we've found ways to improve iConnectHue's strobe in Discotainment, to bring more dynamic to your party! It responds quicker - and this for everybody.
Exclusively for all Members, we also introduced these strobe modes:
• All: As usual, all lights strobe
• Sequential: Lights strobe in sequential order (by the group lights order)
• Random: Random single lights strobe
But that's not all: While holding the strobe button, swipe left or right to slow down or speed up the strobe.

10 year special
This is a special number - and we've decided to make it a special update. We've given iConnectHue a design overhaul, complete with skinning support and a new skin - we call it "Neon" - several visual updates - and a lot more!
Additionally, this is the first time the app is available in both French and Danish - bienvenue & velkommen!
Group tabular list
Due to feedback we've added a tabular view to the home view. On the iPhone, simply select the menu (...), when you're in group overview, then select the tabular view. On the iPad, the tabular view is available as a sidebar for quick access & quick jump. There, simply press the sidebar button left to the menu to show/hide it.

The 2023 upgrade - included for all members - introduces several changes. Amongst the most notable:

Light startup Mode Wizard
The brand new Pro light startup mode wizard makes your life easier! It allows you to set the startup mode (after power interruption) for multiple lights in batch mode, and to define in which mode newly added lights should be automatically configured with.
Note that for the latter to work, you'll need to always search lights within iConnectHue!
(Available for all Pro members)
Single shot timers
Single shot timers for lights and groups allow you to create a timer that is only started once - either today (if later than current time), or tomorrow (if earlier). It currently is only available without conditions like presence or group-on state. Simply switch the "repeats" button to off in the editor to enable it. Timers will delete themselves after they activated.
(Available w/ 2023 upgrade or Membership)
Other changes
These are other notable changes, and they're for free:

10 year special
We celebrate our 10th anniversary - and as a special, we discount the app by around 66% - tell all your friends. To also give something back to you, we've reduced Membership prices to 50% for first time members in the first year! Both specials are time-limited - use them before they get discontinued!

• AI generated Magic Scenes from description •
iConnectHue is the first Hue app to give you AI assisted functions - you can now generate Magic Scenes from description! Write down what you imagine, and our app will try to do the best to generate your scene! It will describe which colors it used and why.
Note: We currently deem this as beta feature. It should work, but it may still need some finetuning and feedback from you.
This function is something we need to pay for on a regular basis. So it is mainly available for members, but non-members can try it 3 times. For the same reason you can currently use it 10 times a day as Basic member, 20 times a day as Pro member. We'll see how it works for us all and may make some changes accordingly.
• Easter Magic Scenes! •
Our easter scene set is available again for everybody! Enjoy!
Seasonal free item, available for free until the end of April, thereafter available for all Members throughout the entire year.
Improved time displayment
Several of you suggested to have times not displayed relatively for last device actions. We have changed this accordingly and now show absolute times.
• Improved: Long press for real daylight •
This existing Pro feature has been improved: Previously, you long-pressed a light or group switch in the app, your lights show a color temperature based on day or night.
With this update, we've improved it - it now calculates the actual color temperature based on the position of the sun at your location, and adds an automatic gradual change over the course of the next 2 hours, so your lights adjust to the sun's course!
Please note: This only calculates the color temperature for a non-cloudy, non-polluted sky. Clouds may make sunlight colder, pollution warmer.
(Available for all Pro members)
• Set up Hue Dimmer like v1/v2 •
Some of you have asked to set up your Hue Dimmer V2 like the V1 one or vice versa via the wizard.
You can do this from now on, and we hope it eases your home setup!

4.14: Color Explosion!
This is our biggest release this year! We've made iConnectHue color-correct, meaning as long as your display can show a light's color, it should be the same on both. If iConnectHue knows a light, it will show you the appropriate color picker with all its colors the light is capable of.
Also Magic Scenes, Animations and Disco Scenes can be now more colorful and have nicer looking gradients both on screen and on lights.
These changes are included for everybody! Additionally, we have these improvements:
GRADIENT COLOR PICKER
The best color picker for Hue! So far, we offered Magic Scenes to control Gradient lights and light groups to have gradients, now you can have easy, always perfect looking gradients for Gradient lights and light groups at your fingertips!
Select a gradient mode in your picker to the top left, then use the cursor to move around - all other color points will follow. You can adjust several of the modes with the thicker white cursor and narrow, widen or even invert the gradient.
With the 2022 Upgrade, you'll have the blend picker available, with a membership you'll also get these: Analogous, Complementary, Split, Triadic, Tetradic. These are all different ways to generate harmonic gradients, without the hassle to always adjust multiple colors one after each other.
FESTAVIA DIFFUSE MODE
Delivered Magic scenes without gradient (Membership/2022 Upgrade) and the color picker triadic and tetradic mode (Membership) will automatically put your Festavia lights to the diffuse mode - letting them represent what these modes were thought for.
RELATIVE BRIGHTNESS
Changing the brightness in light groups will now change each light's brightness individually instead of putting them all to the same brightness (Membership or 2022 Upgrade).
MAGIC SCENES FROM GRADIENTS AND PICTURES
You can now create Magic Scenes from a gradient via our new gradient picker, or from pictures (Membership).
We are also especially proud of our from picture mode, as it works color-correct, with high gamut images, and has been optimized to pick those colors you actually perceive as being a significant color of the image.
COPY & PASTE COLORS/GRADIENTS (PRO)
You can now easily copy & paste colors and gradients between color pickers in iConnectHue. The iOS clipboard is being used - meaning you can also bring in colors from the outside. It usually works in CIE (XY) mode, but is capable of understanding/pasting Hex color values as well.
CIE PICKER (PRO)
Our Pro users can now use a CIE color picker instead of the normal one - this is the mode Hue lights usually work in. The individual light's gamut (the colors the light is capable of) will be shown as a limiting triangle.
BETTER FAVORITE / INCLUDED COLORS
We've updated the included colors to reflect those delivered with the Hue app. "Evening light" is now "Bright".
Pro: iConnectHue can guess a color's name and will suggest it when saving it as a favorite. Also you can now opt to save the brightness with a favorite instead of just saving the color itself.
SHOW TEMPERATURE AND COLOR VALUES (PRO)
Pro users can now opt to show the color temperature and XY color value when using the pickers. You can enable this in the color picker options menu.
NEW MAGIC SCENE PACKAGES
To celebrate our new abilities, we've included 3 new scene packages: Neon, Neon gradients and More Christmas.

Discotainment is even better, free Halloween Animations included until mid November. In detail:
Discotainment improvements
Following your feedback, we've improved Discotainment. It's smoother, better and offers more functions and additional scenes. The scenes now show what they do via icons, and the scene browser has been reworked.
Additionally this w/ Membership or 2022 Upgrade:
• Change sparkle effect length to up to 400%
• Switch to random scenes via button or shake (in list)
• Magic Scenes can now be switched at once over all lights
• Improved strobe effect - now acts more like a real strobe
• A master brightness slider for quick brightness changes
Pro Members also get this in addition:
• Start Disco scenes via iOS search or Siri Shortcuts
• Share Disco scenes with friends and family
• Duplicate Disco scenes
• Change sparkle and strobe effect color
We also made our first additional Disco Scene package available: "Funky! Funky!" gives you 6 additional scenes that also make use of the new effects. They are included for our members and available for trial and purchase for everybody else.
Did you try Discotainment yet? We believe it's the best available solution for Hue Entertainment - you should try it, even if you already did!
Halloween Animations
Following our yearly tradition, we've made our Halloween Animations available again! This year with two new great additions: "Spooky House" and "Ghost fire", to make your house extra-spooky! As always, available for free until mid November, or, with Membership, available all year.
Hint: You can also put these on motion sensors and switches, if you want some extra-scariness (w/ Animation Upgrade or Membership).
