Common ServicePlanner App Problems and Troubleshooting Steps

Android, iOS, or macOS operating system users may encounter a problem where an app will display a black screen for a few seconds before crashing, with or without an error message. However, there are a few methods you can try to fix this issue:

  1. Sometimes, this problem may be caused by a temporary loading issue. To fix this, go to the recent applications menu on your phone, usually accessed by the first left button, and close the app that is experiencing the issue. Then, re-open the app.
  2. If that doesn't work, try doing a hard reboot of your iPhone, iPad, Mac or Android device by simultaneously pressing and holding the "Home" and "Power" buttons for up to 10 seconds, then release them and hold the "Power" button until the screen turns on. After that, try opening the app again.
  3. If none of the above solutions work, another option is to wait for the phone battery to drain and turn off automatically. After that, charge the phone and turn it on and try opening the app again.
  4. If the problem persists, you may need to uninstall and re-install the app. Re-installing the app will restore all settings.
  5. If the app still does not work, you can try installing older versions of the app.

My ServicePlanner app wont load or not working properly (loading error / server error / connection error / screen freeze / ping problem)

There are a number of reasons why a mobile app may experience loading issues. Some common causes include:

  1. The ServicePlanner app server may be experiencing downtime, which can cause loading issues. Try accessing the app again after a few minutes.
  2. Your wifi or mobile data connection may not be working properly, which can affect the app's ability to load. Make sure your connection is stable.
  3. There may be too many users accessing the app at the same time, causing a slowdown. In this case, try accessing the app again after a few minutes when usage may be lower.

I'm having ServicePlanner login issue or account related issues

If you are experiencing issues with logging in or with your account, please take the following steps to troubleshoot the problem:

  1. Check if the ServicePlanner server is down, as this can cause login and account issues. If so, try logging in again after a few minutes.
  2. Verify that your wifi or mobile data connection is working properly.
  3. Ensure that you are using the correct login credentials. Double check the details you are entering.
  4. If you're logging in using a third-party service like Facebook, Twitter, or Google, check to make sure that the service is functioning properly by visiting its official website.
  5. If you see error message, check if your account has been banned or deactivated.

ServicePlanner Developer Updates

Version 3.1.0 28 November 2023
This is a reasonably big release with a number of changes related to the new reporting guidelines.
ServicePlanner now allows you to optionally hide "hours" and show ticks on the monthly calendar and annual report, supporting the overall focus switch from counting time while still encouraging you to plan your ministry.
## New Features
- Toggle a months reporting between "Shared in Ministry" or "Full Hours" mode using the new button next to Send Report.
- Option to hide hours on the Activity Calendar and show a tick instead. Toggle this from the top/right menu option on the Activity screen.
- Option to hide the Placements, Videos and RVs on the Activity screen. Otherwise they are greyed out but still visible for access to the detail screens.
- You can set the default reporting mode in Settings > Reporting. Otherwise you can change it month-by-month, for example when auxiliary pioneering.
## Issues Fixed
- Fixed issue with service year date range in some time zones.
- Fixed issue with backup reminders.
- Fixed the annual hours summary bar sometimes including carried minutes.
- Fixed issue reporting credit hours vs max hours.
- Further refinements to the Dropbox sync rules.
- Fixed issue with Last Visit date not showing for TerritoryHelper locations (make sure to reload the maps).
## Other
- You can now send your report via NW Publisher.
- iOS 14 now required.

Version 3.0 03 February 2023
I am very pleased to announce version 3.0 of ServicePlanner.
* There are now up to 5x "Other Hours" categories available - each with scheduling, reporting and timer support.
* You can set a limit on other hour credits. Hours added over the maximum will reduce the reported amount. The current limit defaults to 75 hours, but you can change it at any time.
* There is improved visibility for the different hour categories on both the Month and Year Activity Calendars. For example, you can easily see how many LDC or HLC hours you did. Click on a category in the Report section to show the related hours per day in the calendar.
* It has been great to see how ones are using the daily notes inside the Activity Calendar. You can now assign a color to the daily note ... which then changes the color of that day in the calendar. There is a new Notes summary screen. And for those that submit notes with their Report, you can even specify the color notes to be included.
* A new "Custom" Contact Type has been added ... and you can now rename the Contact Types in the Workflow Settings.
* A new Visit Type "Secular" has been added. This allows you to record a visit with a contact that does not show in your report.
* The Video and Publication screens have been simplified, with some features being removed. When a new user installs the app they will now have some default publications added by default - titles only. As before, users can add cover images and link to external content.
* There is a new video category called "Bible Study". 4x generic video placeholders get users started reporting videos shown.
* Improvements to the Dropbox Sync tooling.
* Better support for Emoji in things like Tags, Contact Names, Saved Filters and more. Power Tip: Use Emoji in contact names to provide visual indicators about the person - gender, age, work, location, language etc. Also use Emoji at the start of your Tag names to keep them grouped together.
* Home Screen quick actions have been enabled for all devices. Tap+hold on the ServicePlanner app icon to see the options.
* ServicePlanner is now available in both Chinese Traditional and Simplified!
* Contacts no longer require an address. There are new Contact Filter options. And you can add a Website URL against a Contact.
* iOS 11 is now the minimum version supported.
Overall there are too many UI improvements and feature enhancements to list here. Keep an eye on the website for a blog post that will go in-depth on what's new in version 3.0.
